Before starting the Classical Liberal Arts Academy in 2008, I was an upper school literature and language teacher in several excellent private schools. One of my responsibilities in each of those schools was preparing students for the SAT. I was trained by Princeton Review, served as an SAT essay scorer and worked to help students raise their scores.
The SAT tests student aptitude in the following areas:
- English Grammar
- Reading Comprehension
- Essay Writing
- Practical Arithmetic
- Algebra I-II
- Geometry (Modern)
All of these subjects will be covered by any student who progresses through the CLAA's Directed Study program.
Student scores will be determined largely by their academic achievement in each of these areas, but it is possible to raise student scores 100+ points by specialized SAT preparation.
