When a new account is created, it is necessary to provide an email address for the student. It is common, however, that students do not have their own email accounts at the time of enrollment. Parents have a few options.
1. Request a CLAA Google Apps account.
I can provide any student with a free CLAA Google Apps for Education account, which includes a student email address. You will find that most CLAA students use such accounts. If desired, simply contact me.
2. A trick for Gmail accounts
If you have a Gmail account, you do not need to create new accounts for your children, but can use a trick to give them unique email addresses that our system will accept. Simply add a + to your Gmail username and then any text that identifies the child. For example, if I have the Gmail account email@example.com and I wish to enter an email address for my daughter Mary, I can enter firstname.lastname@example.org and that will work fine. The emails sent to Mary's address will actually go to the parent's account.
3. Create a student email account.
Obviously, you can create a free email account for your child(ren) through any of the popular providers. We recommend, however, arranging that email sent to this student address be forwarded to your parent email account.
